Hippo Animator is an intuitive tool for creating animations that can be used in HTML pages. Although it is easy to use, it takes a while to get used to the interface and learn all the tricks.
You can draw or import images and modify their properties. Animations are based on transitions. Each object has a frame line. You set up the position and properties of the object in a specific frame, do the same for another frame and the application creates a smooth transition between them. With this simple principle and a little bit of creativity, many interesting effects can be created.
If you have never used such a program, you will have a difficult time understanding how it works. Fortunately, in the top menu you will find some demos. Each of them exemplifies some neat features of the software. Playing around with those examples helps you understand how to work with the application. Furthermore, the help file is comprehensive and it explains how to create your own projects (graphical examples are included).
You can export your work in one of the following formats: HTML, GIF, video or static images (creates an image for each frame). Exporting to GIF is not recommended because it results in poor quality. This software achieves great results with little effort, and the animations look nice on web pages.
